If you have made your way into the entrepreneur world, you probably know a little something about opt-in freebies and email marketing. Or maybe, you already have your email marketing set up and that’s how you’ve made your way here!

So you have your website all set up on Squarespace and now you are trying to figure out how to add your newsletter or opt-freebie sign-up form to your Squarespace site.

You may have even already noticed that the newsletter forms Squarespace offers limited integrations with other email marketing platforms which are Mailchimp, Zapier, and of course Squarespace Campaigns. If you already have your e-mail funnels and automations set up on another platform, this may cause a little panic. But don’t worry! It is still possible to add your sign up forms from other email marketing tools such as Flodesk or Convertkit.

When you use an external email marketing platform, all you have to do is embed the code for the form. You don’t even have to write the code. Whichever platform you use for email marketing, will provide copy and paste code to add to your Squarespace site!

So… how do you get from point A to point B?

In this post, I will be using Convertkit as an example to show how to embed an email sign-up form on your Squarespace site. If you don’t use Convertkit, that’s okay! Most e-mail marketing plans will provide an embed option. When you are setting up your sign-up form, just look for the tab that says embed!

So, let’s see what it looks like in Convertkit. Below is a view of my form editor in Convertkit. I’ve set up how I’d like it to look and I’ve added my freebie. Now I want to take this form and add it to my Squarespace site. You can see an example of the live form above!

Can you spot the Embed tab?

There it is! No matter what email marketing platform you are using, it should be in plain site!

Once you have spotted the embed tab, go ahead and click on it to retrieve the code! Here is an example of what that window might look like. For Squarespace you can use either HTML or JAVASCRIPT! It’s as easy as just clicking the copy button you don’t even have to highlight the code.

Once you have the code copied to your clipboard let’s head on over to Squarespace!

Once you are in Squarespace, you can literally go to any insert point to add your form. Your form can be in between some text, or some images, or in its own section, whatever works for you. Just go into edit mode and fine the little plus sign. If you are already familiar with adding content in Squarespace, you know that once you click on an insert point you will get a little pop-up with all the options for different types of content you can add!

It looks a little something like this…

As you can see, I’ve highlighted the embed option (right image). Click that to embed your form! Once, you click on the embed button another box will pop up where you can add your code (left image). To embed your code, you will have to click the </> symbol for another box where you can paste your code. At this point, your code is already copied to your clipboard so you can just left-click and select paste!

Right away, there will be a box in a place that may say ‘preview in safe mode’ or ‘disabled code’. To see your form, just refresh the page and it should be visible! When it edit mode, it will most likely revert back to preview in safe mode but don’t worry nothing is wrong! It should look something like this! Or like the live version you probably saw at the beginning of this post. Don’t be afraid to actually go and sign up for the Squarespace Starter Kit!
